Anyone ever tried these? Famous claims that they are made by the same
makers of Don Tomas, Astral and Bahia and are not seconds but first
grade cigars.
If they are almost the same thing and not seconds why would the
manufacurer make them available for resale by a third party and allow
them to advertise them as alternatives and cut into the sales of their
premiums.

"made by" does not equal "same as". It means made by the same people, is all.

Because people who like Don Tomas, Astral and Bahia will buy Don Tomas,
Astral and Bahia. They are not exactly the same thing. They will probably
have lesser grade tobaccos, and will not have the same stringent quality
control as the big names.

the reason they do it is because it is a way for them to add to their
bottom line.

For example: General Motors makes the Cadillac as well as the Chevy
Cavalier.

Bought the special that was running in last month's catalog - all six
bundles (robusto size) for $110 - and I don't regret it. And shipping
was for only ONE item, which I thought was a nice bonus.

All are mild-medium, or medium-bodied and that's what I was looking
for when I bought them.
