This week at The Piperack, we've brought in a great selection of unsmoked
Italian pipes, including some excellent Radice oil-cured pieces, a stunning
Becker straightgrain and some absolutely fantastic pieces from Il Ceppo. Il
Ceppo was founded in 1978 by an architect who was a pipe enthusiast. The
brand made a drastic evolution in 1995 with the addition of Franco Rossi as
principle carver. Il Ceppo's connection to the Pesaro school of design,
which has brought such great brands as Mastro De Paja and Ser Jacopo, is
evident in the shapes, mountings and overall feel of the pipes. We recently
had the opportunity to peruse a number of Il Ceppos, and we concluded that
these are excellent pipes at a very good price, especially considering the
escalating prices of their contemporaries. We have hand-selected some choice
pieces so that you, our discerning customer, can see what Il Ceppo is about.
Check them out - we think you'll be as impressed as we are! Also, don't
miss the beautiful Radice Silk Cut Dublin with the plateaux top - if you
find most Radices too large, this one is right up your alley because it's no
bigger than a Dunhill group 4. Not to mention, it has a gorgeous blast!

The estate section this week has some great pieces from such makers as S.
Bang, Ashton, Charatan, Preben Holm, Radice... and many others! From
England, we have a beautiful Ashton 1X Sovereign Bulldog, a bargain patent
Dunhill, a pair of Charatans (one Distinction and one Executive, both from
the 1960's), as well as pipes from GBD, Sasieni, and others. From Italy,
there's a nice Radice Silk Cut, a Savinelli Autograph 5 and an older Punto
Oro sandblast bulldog. From the Danes there's a couple great Preben Holm
Private Collections, a gorgeous Stanwell, an S. Bang bent bulldog and
others. Oh, and don't miss the cute Larry Roush Grade 6 Tan Carve! Finally,
we have recently received a fresh shipment of pipe bags from our supplier.
These high-quality bags are reasonably priced and very attractive - check
'em out! Next update comes April 10; you won't want to miss it!
