I'm looking for folks with experience using those indoor air ionic air
purifier things. Do they really work? I'm lobbying LSW to let me
smoke in the house and rely on one of these gizmos to keep things
"fresh".

Thanks,

Russ A.

We have em in every room of the house. the max square footage that an
ionic device can effect is 500sqft. It is not physically possible for
one device to freshen more than that, regardless of size. This is
because a negatively charged ion loses it's negative charge within 500
feet of travel (straight line) in free air, if no contact is made with
another ion or particle

So, here's LSW's bottom line question ... if a non-smoker visits your
home, do they notice a smokey odor?

Thanks,

Russ A.

Not in my house. I only smoke in my office, which is upstairs. I smoke
only with the door closed and the bottom of the door sealed (towel usually).
I have an air cleaner in the room that runs constantly and I use Smoke Out
candles when smoking. If someone goes into that room, they would smell some
smoke, but not the rest of the house. Also, we use return air filters with
activated charcoal. This helps get out any remaining smoke odor, as well as
cooking odors.

Your setup sounds much like what I am hoping for. I'd like to be able
to smoke while sitting in my recliner and watching TV. Since all the
furniture in the room is leather, I don't see an issue with odor being
absorbed into fabrics, etc. I'm thinking that I would set up the air
cleaner/purifier next to my chair and then "puff in its general
direction".

Yes, to a great extent. However, they don't work 100% to eliminate smell.
Ventilation (exhaust) is the best, though you have to remember to provide a
fresh air intake, or your exhaust fan will create negative pressure inside your
house, which will **** car fumes from the garage, or CO exhaust from your water
heater, or some other nasty. I remember reading an article about exhaust fans

Yes (sorry). Although they often say something like, "It smells
like my grandfather's house."

If I smoke latakia, the response is something to the effect of,
"Christ, Did a cow shit in here?"
