Good Morning Everyone,
I have been smoking pipes off and on for the past 30 years, and I have been reading this group almost daily for the past 2 years. During that time, I have learned more about the art of pipe smoking and pipes generally than I did in the previous 28 years put togehter, thanks to all of you. So I thought it was about time that I signed on and said hello. After many years of smoking exclusively English and Italian made pipes, my interests have shifted primarily to Danish and German. I will probably never be a "collector" in the truest sense of that word. I am most interested in acquiring a single representative pipe from those whose pipes I can afford--which excludes most of the "top tier" Danes and Germans. A former Marine (1984-89), I currently work as a public servant. In my free time, I try to sample every Virginia and Virgina-Perique blend I haven't yet tried. And when I'm not doing that, I spend time with wilf and German Sheppard Max, as well as a little time at the dojo working on my martial art. This board has been an invaluable source of information to me and has greatly enhanced my understanding of our hobby/passion. Welcome to the group. Jump in and give your opinions, I think the thread on belly buttons is good.  ) Have you tried any of the P.S. Luxury Navy Flake yet. For that matter most of the Navy Flake by all blenders is good. regards runamuck |

Welcome to ASP. I also am new to ASP and like you have learned a ton of stuff that makes my 30+ year pipe hobby more enjoyable. Thanks to this group I have added a dozen fine but not expensive pipes to the rack, in fact, I even added the rack !! Thanks to this group I have branched out my tobacco tastes to include some of the more refined blends. These gentlemen have also provided me with many laughs and chuckles from their often twisted brand of humor. Don't be a lurker, you have knowledge and experiences to share with the group so post 'em.
