Default Pipe Newbie

Hey, Cliff,

Let us know what you're smoking. It sounds like you've got an undue
amount of residue. Depending on how often you smoke, even if you had a
few corncobs in the rotation, it helps the pipe to 'rest'.

I don't experience your situation; it sounds like unfinished components,
casings, OR some defect in the pipe is manifest.

Tell us how you smoke as well. You want to get the best enjoyment out of
this splendid art...

I'm rotating my 2 pipes on a daily basis, and am smoking Peterson tins. Only
about 2-3 bowls/day, along w/ cigars. It is a great hobby. Thanks for your
help.

Hello Cliff, welcome to ASP.When a bowl is finished,I use the tip of my
pipe nail to gently loosen the ashes then simply dump it in an
ashtray. You might want to carry the pipe outdoors and blow through the
stem to dislodge any loose ash or particles.Outside of that and
periodically reaming, no bowl cleaning is actually needed.Run a large
diameter pipe cleaner into the draft hole till you can see it in the
bottom of the bowl, this is really all you should need to do.

Thanks Buck. I've tried that. The stem is removable, but can't get a pipe
cleaner to go through into the bowl. Will keep trying.Must be really plugged
up!! Thanks again.

Keep in mind you should not remove the stem from a pipe during or soon after
your smoke. If you remove it while the pipe is hot, the tenon may change
shape slightly, cuasing the stem not to fit properly with the shank.

Best regards,
