Default What does Tony Benn smoke?

According to a personal e-mail I received from him this morning, Tony
Benn, the longest serving Labor Party MP in the history of the British
Parliament and a general left-wing radical in Britain since the 1940s,
is a passionate fan of Bruno Flake.

I'd never heard of Tony Benn, but sure he has good taste. I think I'll
smoke a bowl of St Bruno tonight.

I've read that Benn has been smoking a pipe since his student days at
Cambridge in the 1930s, and has since his retirement taken to "acting" in a
one-man show where he reads from his autobiography and tells stories from
his long and distinguished career, pausing from time to time to light and
draw on his pipe. If this is true, he is surely the most senior and most
prominent pipe smoker in the world. More power to him - he's the last of
the old lefties, one of the last living links to the Cambridge socialist
circles of the 30s, and a living monument to the pleasures of the leaf.

I've always like Tony Benn (though I've strongly disagreed with his
politics), I've always thought he was a man of integrity.

Born Antony Wedgewood-Benn, Viscount Stansgate (high ranking member of
the British aristocracy), he gave up his title because it did not sit
well with his left wing views. He's always been one of those
politicians who is never afraid to say what he believes, no matter how
unpopular it will make him. He's one of those guys who is a credit to
politics.

Just a shame he's a filthy commie

Actually, he's not a "commie." Were he a commie, he would have joined
the British Communist Party, not the Labour Party.

I, too, admire him as both a person and a politician, though he's much
further left than I am. He's also a very humble guy and a great
storyteller. And St. Bruno Flake is a great choice for a "favorite
tobacco."

Let's also not forget that he's as famous for his tea drinking as he is
for his pipe smoking: 15 pints of tea per day, with two sugars and a
splash of milk. Hmmm.
