Default La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero...revisited (cigar)

A few months(or weeks, I can't remember) ago I reviewed this cigar and I
said it was just too "strong". In fact, I felt it was strong just for the
sake of being strong with no real merit to the cigar. Now that time has
passed and it's had a chance to rest, I figured I'd revisit it.

Overall, it's still "strong just for the sake of being strong" however it
did mellow out a bit and tend to be much more smokable. It produced plenty
of cigar smoke with nutty undertones.

In the end, I'd probably try another one but let it rest even longer. I'm
not sure if I'd want a box of these..or if I did if I'd even smoke them with
less than 6-months to a year of rest of them. Sometimes, ya just hafta say
enough..this cigar crossed that line.

unnnh. I am in love with these cigars, waiting for my student loans to buy
a box or two, thinking they are going to taste really really nice in a few
years. Tried the chisel maddy the other day and (even though green) I love
that ligero flavor.

BTW I have only heard it pronounced by a couple of people, and I'm not sure
how to say it anymore. I was saying Ligero with a hard 'g' but I heard
someone say it the other day with a 'h' sound, like geraldo. What's the
official lowdown, linguist guys?

(...should say Raphael Honzales? LMAO)

If speaking Spanish, or attempting to emulate one doing so, it's an
"h". Either way is probably acceptable.

I tend to agree - I tried this one I think in the early fall and feel it is
trying to market on the current "strong is good" craze that some manufacturers
are jumping on. I do not think there is a good balance between nicotine,
flavors, etc. I found the finish to be flat.

I smoked my first, and probably last of these cigars on Sunday after
lunch. Although it's a beautiful cigar, it's completely
one-dimensional. With that one dimension being "in your face
strength". I smoked about half it, and walked away from it in favor
of something with flavor.

Hell, the regular La Flor Dominca laid me out on the couch with a nicotine
headrush, spins, and nausea. I can only imagine what it would do at double
strength!

I agree. JR Tobac tried this with a brand and I smoked a box of them at
their release. Terribly unidimentional. Good ligero adds body but you
need other tobaccos to round out the flavors and give dimension.

Years ago Wineboss and myself asked a cigar maker to make a totally
ligero filler. He informed us that the cigar would have no flavor
profile that we'd enjoy, and, it wouldn't burn correctly. Ligero
apparently doesn't burn well.

When JR's product hit the market (La Rosa Especiale) it was a lack
luster cigar.

Go for flavor, intensity, and a well rolled cigar for, not just
"strength."
