Default question regarding puroexpress (cigars humidor)

Hey gang,
I finally did it. After years of smoking anything but Cubans because of
financial constraints, I finally ordered a box of cigars from Puroexpress.
I got them today, a box of Partagas Serie D #4.
Because of my extremely limited experience with Cubans, I wanted to ask my
dear friends on the board a couple of questions.

First, what are the chances that I got anything other than the real thing?
I have heard good things about Puro but I just need to know...
Second, I assume I should freeze these before I throw them in my humidor?
Third, once I opened the box, it no longer wanted to close properly - it's
like the top portion is warped or something. Ever seen this before?
Finally - and this one freaked me out a bit... I pulled out a cigar and
noticed a white spot on the foot of the cigar. I pulled at it and ended up
pulling a thin white thread about two inches long from the cigar. Is this
as bad as it seems?

They smell great and look good - perhaps I am paranoid.

Comments, anyone?

Irving

p.s. Sara is due in seven weeks.... Sam is almost here!

Pretty much zero.

If there is any risk of the cigars going above 70F for more than a few days
then yes... Put the cigars in a couple of ziplocs and freeze for 2 nights,
then put in the fridge for 2 nights, then on the kitchen counter for one
night, then back in the coolerdor.

Yes.. Nothing to stress about.

Hmm... Never heard of a "thread." Weird. I suggest you smoke the cigar
immediately as a test

I have bought from PuroExpress a couple of times, and have been very
pleased. No problems at all.

Likely they are not fakes

Can't hurt - freeze a few days, fridge a few days and then dor for a few
weeks to re-stabilize.

Not to worry.

Just got a box of R&J Exhibicion #4 from Puro this week. They are the real
thing and Puro was very easy to deal with.

Immediately box up all cigars and send to me. I will do an in depth
testing of all to make sure they are safe. I will send a report and the
ashes. Unfortunately to do the testing they must be burned, one at a
time ;-)

Just a follow-up.
So far, the concensus is that this company is a thumbs-up firm.
My dealings with them were great, to say the least.
All came to me quickly, there were e-mails to confirm receipt, etc.
But as this was the first time I bought cubans this way, I really wanted a
reality check!

Thanks for all the help.
