I’m thinking about bidding some estate pipes. One of them is GBD Orly 7s,
looks like a billard, appears to be in good condition. I dont know much
about GBD’s. Can you tell me how old (aproximately)it is, and how much is it
worth? The other one is “Pietro Condino” Excele 7. I haven’t found anything
in the google or archives (maybe the owner mistyped the name). Any idea?
Pipes’ pictures are on:

It’s very hard to determine the age of a GBD.It “looks” like a small
billiard in New Standard or possibly New Era.It could also be a French
made GBD.It might make a good smoker, most of them are.

GBD’s are hard to beat for value. I have a good few, and all but 2
are great smokers. Never heard of the other brand.

The name for the brand is mistyped. It’s “Pietro Candino” and describes a
brand made in St. Claude, France.
All pipes are machine turned and mostly available with 9mm filter, but you
can get them with no filter as well.
The ones I’ve had in hand were manufactured quite well for pipes in this
price category (new: 30-60 EUR).
Drilling was set at the bottom of the chamber and centered, cleaners passed
with ease. Bite on the vulcanite stems could be a little thinner but not too
Maybe they’re good for all-day smokes or outside, but IMHO nothing really
collectible, although with a little luck you can even get one without fills
I’ve never smoked one, so I dunno if they keep what the outside might
Hope this helps.

Uzytkownik “Stefan Rajek”
That’s good news. I prefer 9mm filters. Thanks for all the posts. I knew I
would find the answer here.

Looking for info on a pipe I bought off eBay. I loked the grain so
purchased it without knowing anything about it,
On the stem it has “Malaca” and the other side Imported Briar. Could not
find anything on Google or Yahoo. Any info would be appreciated. TIA.

”Malaga” was a pipe made in the 30’s by a fella named George
Khoubesser.I found no information about a brand/maker called
“Malaca”.It’s quite possible though that it was the store brand of a
tobacco shop… D.P.

I went pipe hunting today at an antique mall that I had never been to.
I found several pipes that I’ve never heard. Some I found info on but
no vouching for the quality.
Monza Tinder box (seconds for Lorenzo) Quality??
Shadow Grade 878 (a Comoy) Quality??
Duke of Kent ??? Quality?
Jost (a Comoy) Quality??
Then I found one that only had a marking. It looked like a T where the
bottom of the “T” swooped up to the right and went underneath a “G”.
It had a white dot on each side.
