Yesterday was a day such that, if I was a diary-keeping type of fellow, I would have flagged the page as one to read and reread during times I wanted inspiration or just to savor a good memory. It started off with a good pot of coffee and a belinda black that must have been sitting in a "sweet spot" in my humidor as it was the best bb I have enjoyed yet. The weather was quite pleasant, though just a few too many clouds for me to apply the "absolutely beautiful" description. I then drove to houston to a walmart where none other than glenn beck hemself was making an appearance in support of his new book.. I got to shake his hand and talk to him briefly and wound up with a signed copy which will stay in my personal library permanantly. Afterwards, I drove on just a little further north to go visit my sister at the new house & property she bought, but on the way I got very hungry as I hadn't eaten anything at that point and so I pulled in to a quaint little bar-b-que shack that I just happen to notice as I was driving... it's one of those little mom-and-pop run type of operations where you see smoke constantly pouring out of the back as they are constantly putting meat on the pit- fresh is always best and as you may have noticed if you are going to buy bar-b-que from a restaraunt the best places are non-franchised, out of the way places that you have to hear about by word of mouth that *only* serve bar-b-que and related fixin's. After a good lunch I smoked a partagas black label, it was awesome. Finally, I wound up at my sisters where I had discovered she aquired 3 horses since I first went up to her new house. She twisted my arm and forced me, totally against my will, to take a saddle and accompany her and some friends on brief trail ride in the woods that run next to her subdivision. It was just absolutely dreadful to have to endure a wonderful afternoon horseride while, to make things worse, I pulled out the other smoke I had taken with me in my leather cigar case which was a hoyo de monterry dark sumatra and lit it up. After returning to her house and helping to put her horses back into the pasture and feed them, I headed back home. It's really odd the lenghts you'll go and excuses you'll make to smoke some fine cigars. Clint -- "I want you to listen up and listen good. There's two things, there's right and there's wrong, you do the one or the other. Yesterday I... Woke up at 11, drank some coffee, got dressed, watched TV and smoked a CAO. After that, I went to Mcdonalds for lunch then smoked another CAO afterwards. After that, I went back home, called my girlfriend, and arranged a early, light dinner with her. Did not smoke after dinner though, didnt even drink, just had a Coke and shared a chicken entree with my girl. Came home after, and got ready for Saturday night poker night. 9pm to about midnight (probably more) Smoked 2 cigars, once again CAOs (CAOs are the only cigars I have right now), and drank a few beers. Just about finished with a hangover now, just like every Sunday.

Clint, Awesome day buddy. I gotta find someone with horses near me. I would truly love to have someplace I could ride. And smoke. Guess I need more cigars... and a horse. Harumph. -- Travis I came for the knowledge, I stayed for the people. Smokin' Racks http://Pipes.WyndMyre.com

I wish my sister lived closer, i'd probably ride more often, but alas she's about an hour and a half's drive from me. At least it's something to look forward to for thanksgiving. Two things, you cannot talk of a good BBQ place and not give mane and location, and we can make excuses for you to come into Houston all the time. Email me and I will send tel. number. JJ

Wow, thanks, that's quite generous of you... The place didn't even have a name, not one that was posted anyway, it just had "BAR-B-QUE" on the front; like many bar-b-que "shacks" it was wooden & red... After leaving the walmart in tomball where the Glenn Beck book signing was, I went north to magnolia where my sister lives (249 north, right on 2920, left on 2978, the place was on the right a few miles before the 1488 intersection). Sound familiar? It's about 30 minutes north of the 610 loop; going up I-45 and taking a left on 1488 and then a left on 2978 would be a quicker root from houston proper) Clint -- "I want you to listen up and listen good. You bastage! I just finished his book and passed it on to my mom. Only discovered GB last spring and recently he was added to a station in my town. (I used to have to pull him in from a distant station and deal with bad signals and such.) -- Rob - "All I want is a little piece and quiet. I have my spies out researching the place, thanks for the info.
I am always looking for a place with better ribs than William’s
Smokehouse, and enjoying years of failure 🙂

Glenn Beck is awesome... And I find myself disagreeing with him more than I do most other conservative talk show hosts, such as Hannity, Limbaugh and the locals here out of the houston stations but for some reason i'm drawn more to his show than the others... I guess because he makes you think more and puts things more into perspective; instead of a conservative talk host TELLING you what's right and what's wrong, Glenn will throw it at you from a different angle and have you figure out what's right or wrong on your own. I was able to talk with him briefly as he signed my book "To Clint, ya sick freak!" (which, any Beck fan knows that's his signature line for answering the call-ins). He was also kind enough to let people get thier pictures taken with him, though I didn't as I didn't bring a camera and it's no big deal. Check out his site, he has a list of the places he's touring for book signings, there may be one within driving distance of where you live. His popularity is slowly growing as people discover him, and I have a feeling in the near future he's going to become even more so. Clint -- "I want you to listen up and listen good.
