Default Cuban Cigars & United States (cigars)

I recently ran across a news article about shops in Canada and other
countries that ship Cuban cigars to the U.S. and since these countries have
no embargo with Cuba, there is nothing that the U.S. government can do about
it. Being a 'somewhat newbie' to cigars, I figured that the only way to get
them is to either know someone or be extremely lucky in customs by bringing
them back yourself. My question is when these shops ship across the boarder,
how many of the boxes are caught versus how many make it to U.S. door steps?
Or are they pretty much guaranteed to get through? I'd hate to think of
losing about $1000 to the customs agents only to know that they are enjoying
my Cubans at night :-)

I would never, ever violate our Holy Embargo, but if I did, I'd use a company
that guaranteed delivery.

But, does guaranteed delivery mean that if they are seized by customs, they
will continue to ship (within reason) until they finally do make it?

"Guaranteed delivery" means that, if you don't get the cigars, you don't
pay.

Any smart businessman would try to hold onto your money, and deliver the
goods.

Misc "not rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor US-Customs goons..."

: pay.

That is one way of looking at it, (you've already paid [at
the pos -point of sale] you may option to credit the credit
card)

yet another is they will resend (may take your word on
confiscation or may require faxed 'dreaded letter')

"Guaranteed" means GUARANTEED.

You might look into vendors in Spain, the UK or the Netherlands - even
Australia - before you start shoveling money into Canada.

I don't know if exports are subject to the same taxes as cigars
purchased IN Canada are, but if they are, they are quite high.

I doubt that many of the boxes that are shipped get stopped.
The article or whatever is right if they are implying there is really
nothing they can do to the people over in the country that sends them,
but you could get a wrist slap for having them sent to you.
The law is total crap and plenty of people here have a stock of Cubans
that could stop a woodchipper.
Not to name any names, however..

Nothing ever happens to people that just buy a couple of boxes and
have them shipped or bring them in.
You get a nasty letter and maybe your name goes on some list.
They're looking at busting big time movers in cigars, not some dude
ordering a box of Punch.

"Smker" <None@>>

opposite of:

"Bullshit. That's what you chose to read into a subject you don't
know about, but have READ about."

To quote an experienced asc'er
