Is there an easy way to add noise to illustrator gradients? I’m trying to accomplish an effect similar to the airbrush look of 20s/30s posters. you can see the same effect on much of Quiznos in-store graphics too.

you can’t apply that effect to vector art-only to bitmaps you’ve imported.

I can in AI9. Are you in RGB Mode? It won’t work in CMYK.
Maybe it’s changed?

Matt that is Filter>Artistic>Film Grain that you can only apply bitmaps, Effect>Artistic>Film Grain can be applied to Vector objects.

Effect>Artistic>Film Grain can be applied to Vector objects.
Moreover, it can be applied to grad-filled vector objects and used in conjunction with transparency. Of course it is a raster effect and will be rasterized at print time or upon export. But it’s live while in the native AI document.

but as Dee said, it only works in RGB…

You could get it the way you want and then rasterize it and convert it to CMYK.
