When I try to open any PDF file, Acrobat Reader attempts to start up but then immediately shuts down. I get a black splash screen that tells me to restart my computer. I am running OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz with 1.5GB on RAM. No printers or external devices are attached. Does any one know what is causing this. Need some help. Thanks

Acrobat Reader 6.0.6 will not start up
It's not worth trying to fix an application that is several years old and is FREE. Click on the link below and simply download FREE Adobe Reader 8:

Thanks. But, I am using Acrobat Pro 6.0 that came with Adobe CS and need all of the functions, Distiller, etc. Would really like to get this problem resolved before thinking about upgrading to CS3.

You said Acrobat 6 Reader in your header and message.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat 6 Pro. There should be an Uninstaller in the Acrobat 6 Pro folder.

I guess that it was with Acrobat 7 Professional that they added the Uninstaller. I think you'll need to remove the components manually and reinstall. (What can I say, you have an old version of the application.)
