Cannot extract the embedded font "font"? What's happening?
We are running Acrobat 7.0.2 on a G5 with Dual 1.8 Ghz processors and 1.25 GB of RAM. We are running System 10.3.9.
When opening PDF files supplied from our customers, we occasionally get this error: "Cannot extract the embedded font "Optima". (or Optima Bold) Some characters may not display or print correctly" Any ideas about what is causing this? I work at a newspaper, so our PDF files come from many sources using different equipment and software. Any help would be appreciated. It's more of a nuisance than anything else, but I'd like to get idea about what - if anything - I can do. Roger Herold The Baltimore Sun |

OK - we pretty much know the answer, so since you are at a commercial
premise, you are preflighting the PDFs right? Jon |

Yes, we are using PitStop 6.5.1 and it reports no errors with the any of the fonts. Roger Herold |

OK - does your Profile check for any missing fonts?
Try the preflight with PDF/X-1a:2001 or 2003 and then see. If it passes - go to the GENERAL INFORMATION page in the Pitstop report - what is the PDF producer? Also - what format is the embedded font which is cuasing problems in the FONTS page? Jon |
