Hello,

Choosing Adobe PDF 9 in printer settings. Get a menu asking for file name, enter it, hit save. New menu pops up, asks for file name again, doesn't recall the name I just entered. This new dialog box adds title/author/subject/keywords fields. Now if I enter a name it will save. Do I really need to do this twice???

Also, even though I set up an author name in the pref settings in Acrobat Pro, the author in this dialog keeps coming up as my login name, not the name I chose as "author."

Anyone else ran into this? I'm on an Intel Quad Xeon, OS 10.5.6

Is this in all applications or just some applications. Please give an
example of an application that does this. Please describe in detail your
process of printing to pdf from the given application (Do you use
command-P, do you select print from the file menu, etc. Can you post
screen shots of the dialog boxes you see at each step. This can help
track down the issue.

This same thing (asking twice for the file name) happens to me in Adobe 6.0 Pro and I'm using Windows XP, so it isn't just specific to a Mac. I mostly use Access and Brio when I print to pdf and it happens in both those programs.

Well yes, but the way I am doing it is simply by selecting Adobe PDF from the printer list. I am not selecting the "Print to file" check box if that is what you are asking.

If you are asked for the file name twice, you are using the OS pdf
creation facility not Acrobat.

That is starting to shed some light on this. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I do recall this starting sometime after having Office 2007 installed, which I believe has its own pdf generator.

When being prompted twice first started happening, the first thing I did was reinstall Adobe, figuring something happened to the print driver.

So how can we get Adobe to take control of the printing to pdf rather than whatever has control of it now? (hopefully without uninstalling Office 2007)

My apologies to the Mac users out there, I'm using Windows but I seem to be taking over this thread.

Hi Maria,

I see the described behavior when I choose "Save as PDF..." from the PDF dropdown in the Print dialog. Are you using this route rather than hitting the Print button after selecting the Adobe PDF printer?

Sorry, I can only speak authoritatively regarding Windows systems, Mac users might find some success with this solution if Adobe PDF printer drivers work similarly.

To resolve the problem, go into the Printers and Faxes control panel and right-click on the Adobe PDF printer and select properties.

Under the Ports tab, make sure the port selected is "Desktop\*.pdf"

This should resolve the save as coming up twice issue. I can't say why, but I can say it fixed it for me.
