Default Superscript formatting lost when converting from Word to pdf

Hi,

I'm using Microsoft Word 2003 and Acrobat 6.0 Professional.

I have a do***ent title in an MS Word do***ent that has the character (r) within a circle for 'Registered' in superscript format. This do***ent title needs to be repeated at several places throughout the do***ent, so it has been inserted as a StyleRef field in the Word do***ent.

However, the inserted field does not take the superscript format of (r), and instead makes it regular sized.

To solve the above problem, I did a global replace of the (r) to superscript, so it looks okay in the Word do***ent. However, when I convert the do***ent to pdf (using AdobePDFMaker macro), I still get the normal size (r).

As a temporary workaround I am de-linking all the fields and manually doing a global replace of the (r) to superscript, which gives me the intended result for the time-being. However, the purpose for which the fields are used is lost (which is to update automatically for future releases).

BTW, I'm using Arial font. The problem seems to be due to a combination of two factors, the StyleRef field that I am using and the (r) character with superscript formatting.

If any of you have faced this problem, or have a possible solution, I would truly appreciate your inputs.

TIA,

Abigail
