Maintaining alpha channel

I am a newbie on AE 5.5. I am trying to render my video and maintain the alpha channel in an AVI file, but when I import into Premier, the alpha channel doesn't work. I seem to remember a work around for this problem, but can't find it.

Any tips.

or, if need be,
you could render the alpha seperately from the RGB, and then composite in permiere.
rendering the QT w/alpha would be preferable, IMO.
