How to NOT click hidden / locked layers

Hi..
I like to work with different layouts stored in different SETs, but it is annoying how when I'm editing text on a certain set, it keeps clicking on other sets below that are both hidden AND locked..

is there any trick to not doing this?

Choose the Move Tool (V).

Look up at the Options Bar.

Uncheck "Auto-select Layers".

it's a constant annoyance I wish they'd fix.

a real annoyance is command clicking on a tool and getting that to work, and then it ignoring the turned off auto select when you by force of habit command click when your on the move tool. Argghh...

is that UI designer back from holiday yet?
