Ctrl Commands Not Working

Anything regarding the control key on my copy of Photoshop CS isn't working properly. I specifically would like to use ctrl+U to edit colors, but whenever I push it nothing happens. Is there anyway I can access the hue and saturation bars without using ctrl+u, and why won't it work?
