Default Page numbering

Hello
does anyone know how to force the page number style? I'm working on a
existing document: in this document (eg) if I add a disconnect page
after page 53, the new page will be 53.A (then 53.b, etc...)
Now, since I need to re-build all the document, how could I remove
this setting?

Many tx to everybody

Freeze Pagination was located in the documentation for early FM releases, but still resides in the cmds.cfg menu customization file, in the configui folder under the fminit folder in the FM installation folder.

However, it's also located in the collective memory of some of us long-time FrameMaker users who can't throw away anything they've ever learned, and who are always happy to mention it when it may be helpful on these forums.

Although it simplifies the creation of "point" pages (1, 1.a, 1.b, etc.), it's a troublesome feature because, by disconnecting pages, each text frame becomes a separate flow, and all paragraph-based auto-numbering fails.

Not only that. For tables that break pages, it will put all of the table on point
pages. It will not magically split the table and put each on separate pages.
And, paragraphs that break pages will be split into two separate paragraphs,
even though it still looks as one. If you "unfreeze" the document, such a
paragraph will not "rejoin", i.e. it will remain as two separate paragraphs!
Freeze pagination will work as you expect and not create havoc, if and
only if you have simple text documents without anything that breaks pages,
no floating frames or tables, no graphics that end up on the next page, etc.
Otherwise you'll spend endless time trying to fix what the feature broke...
