Default Where can you buy Golive 9?

It's no longer available here at Adobe.com, can't find it on Amazon either. Thoughts?

If you've got CS2 or even CS, stop worrying about it. If you haven't, get Dreamweaver or one of the various other authoring tools. Golive v9 was discontinued some time back.

Yeah I know I was on the beta teams from 8 back to CyberStudio days. Wasn't for 9 though. I have DW (hate it btw), but want GL9 for our legacy sites built in GL.

Steven, use CS2 instead if you still have that. It's good enough. And better than GL9 in my opinion.

GoLive 9 would be a less than ideal choice for maintaining legacy sites. It has fairly major changes to CSS handling (removing HTML attributes and auto-generating CSS) which can make it quite tricky to maintain older sites (unless you stay pretty much away from layout mode or use Oliver Michalak's DeForceCSS extension -- <http://golive.werk01.de/DeforceCSS/)>. It also has significant changes to the site file user interface and to the way layout mode works. Nini's advice has to be right. Better to stick with the devil you know for maintaining legacy sites.

Hi Nini. Yeah I'm still quite happy with CS2. Because I didn't opt in for GL9 testing, I pretty much was out of the loop and also had gotten into Drupal and not even using GL8. Was kinda curious what 9 looked like, but your advice and John's makes good sense. Besides I'm not sure if MenuMachine even works in 9. But I don't find it a "devil" I reserve that label for DW

MenuMachine works in 9 if you have the latest version. But there really isn't any point in going to 9. I have GL9 (and DWCS4) but I stick with GLCS2 anyways. I am no fan of the interface of GL9 and I think most of us that DID beta-test GL9 got very disappointed when the UI started to change and all kinds of not asked for changes started to turn up. I stick to GLCS2 because I like the UI there and it simply works for me.

When there will be a MenuMachine that works with DW, I will convert to DW. That will happen according to Rob K. Until then it is GLCS2 for me (though I do less of webworks these days than I used to and with my present job at Scandinavia´s largest daily newspaper my time is extremely limited for it as well - I work at the Mac Helpdesk with usersupport for about just anything that can happen in a newspaper workflow, mainly on the "paper"-side of things, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop among other things).

GL9 COULD have been good, but some time pretty early on in the beta it went all wrong (in my opinion). And the end product is kind of painful as I see it.

Well.. that solves that issue. I too like CS2. I do have the latest MM btw. Great. Rob's amazing. Well, I certainly enjoyed all the testing up to GL9, I too just got too busy to put in the time and wasn't building enough sites so I wasn't able to really test except spare time which is theoretical at best

Thanks for your insights and thoughts. As we know, the issues you mention with GL9 actually we saw developing in GL8, maybe even before. I still have my first CyberStudio disc for memories. Those were fun days indeed.

I have my first cyberstudio discs somewhere around too. And the little plastic box that walks that has CyberStudio 3 printed on it...
