++ ADDING 21 TABS IN ai line of text

I am having trouble adding additional tabs to a line of text in Illustrator. I have it all set up and tabs up to 15 but I need 21 tabs.

Every time I click to set a new one it makes a noise at me. Is there an amount to the # of tabs I can have in a line of text? I have tried highlighting the text, not highlighting the text?
