No, the user account was not corrupt, or cloning the same account to a different drive would not have worked. I don't have any reason to suspect physical memory issues either, only swap file space, but I still suspect file location is the real issue. I will continue to monitor and test. I'll report back if anything else pertinent arises.
Honestly, I have read many posts on this topic here, and haven't found any real solution. I would think Adobe would be on this, but it is quite a muddle as it stands now. I spoke with a tech support representative today, he seemed quite disinterested.
