I did that, but the result is a bmp or jpeg file. What I really need the outline for laser cutting. Is there a way to get the outline into the dwg file?

Save the file as an eps and import it into AutoCAD?

That's the process we use when interacting with our Laser cutting dept. That's the method we use for exchanging files with ArtiosCAD and I believe that AutoCAD can open/import eps files as well.

From Illustrator, Export to DWG format. I found that you have to
scale the file in Illustrator by 3.937007874015748031496062992126%

For some reason, Illustrator exports to DXF in metric. The above scale
factor is metric to inches, or 1/25.4

Seems strange, but I know it works. Also, I export to AutoCAD version
r13/LT95.

Email me if you have any problems doing the above.
