Default CS not maintaining selection upon SHOW/UNLOCK

In previous versions of Illustrator, I could HIDE an object (or several) and when I told Illustrator to SHOW ALL it would have all the newly shown obejects selected. The same was true with LOCK and UNLOCK. The problem I am having with CS is that the above scenario works if the hidden or locked object is a single path item, but if the hidden or locked object is a group item then it is not selected when shown or unlocked. Am I missing preference that will allow group objects to remain selected upon SHOW ALL or UNLOCK?

Any help appreciated.

Hi

I’m afraid this is a bug. I ran into it almost immediately and Adobe even called me back to say they could reproduce it and were working on a fix for the first update. Compound paths are the culprit. If you look at the layers pallet, you'll see that when you unlock, the objects are selected but you can't see the selection cues, so can't do anything.

Yours
Vern

Thank you. This saves me searching for a solution, hopefully the first update will include a fix as you suggest.

I posted a similar message several weeks ago and the one respondent indicated that I was the only one with this particular problem (where have I heard that before!). The items that were hidden are, in fact, still selected upon issuing a SHOW command (just the selection boxes are missing). You can test this by hitting DELETE. They will all disappear. I'm glad not to be alone in this.

Every computer running CS here has this problem. Funny, while if I hit DELETE the unselected objects will be deleted, if I try to do other things like move them with the arrow keys or change the fill color they remain unaffected.
