Problem Importing Linked Barcode EPS Files

Several people in my department have reported the same problems trying to link barcodes from BarCode Pro 4.07 in Illustrator 10. One of two things happen: 1. the file does not import and the do***ent space remains blank or 2. Illustrator crashes. This happens 95% of the time when importing barcode .EPS files. I currently have to run Illustrator 9.0 in classic mode in order link these files. Linking is the only option to maintain the quality and integrity fo the barcode. Has anyone experienced this problem or know why it is happening?

Yes, I've seen this before. A girl at work had this problem, and I helped her with a workaround. I can't remember what we did right now, but I'll ask her tomorrow. She might remember, since she works with barcodes everyday. The products I work on don't have barcodes.

O.K. here's what we did.

We made another barcode in Barcode Pro. Placed that into Illustrator and embedded it. Which somehow made a duplicate outlined barcode in another spot. Then we just deleted the embedded placed one.

Hope that will work for you.

I find the best way is to open the bacode you have created in AICS, cut, close & paste into your artwork. Usally outline as well.
