Problem saving AICS files with Text

Cannot save any AICS files with text: get an error message as follows:
"an unknown error has occured" (after the 'saving illustrator file progress bar completes).

Files with no text or text which has been converted to outlines save with no problem.

Tossing all preference files/folders did not resolve problem.

Removing all Suitcase and System fonts does not resolve problem.

Re-installing AICS resolved problem only temporarily.

This problem occurs with converted legacy files AND completely new, native files.

Running CS on G4/450 OS 10.3.x w/896Mb RAM installed, 20+Gb free space on Hd.

Any help appreciated.
