I am trying to scale images in both Illustrator and Photoshop, although when I hold down the shift key the images do not stay proportioned. My text also does not snap to 45 degrees and 90 degrees. What is wrong, are there any preferences I need to check in order for this to work. I am running Creative Suite.

Are any of the other keys on your keyboard "sticky"? That may sound like a stupid question, but following a recent office renovation, I was setting up my computer and had a similar problem. After playing around for about 15 minutes (and numerous restarts later), I noticed that the "enter" key on the number pad was stuck down. I popped it up, cleaned some dust out of it, and things were back to normal.

You know my copy doesn't work either. When I hold down the option button I get the second arrow to copy an image or piece of text but as soon as I drag it somewhere else on the sheet it disappears. It seems like my commands are not working. Any suggestions?

Seriously, it could be a keyboard issue. Do you have access to another keyboard to try? I guess a better question would be, do all of the quick keys work with non-Adobe software? Simple Text, Mail, regular copy/paste on your desktop? Something to check anyway.

Yes, the other commands work, the keyboard I believe is fine.
