Default Special Characters such as a Trademark

Can someone tell me if there is a way to print out what the Alt + 4 digits are for the special characters. I know the easy ones like a Trademark or Register Mark. But now I need accents for Spanish words.

It would be nice to have a list to look at when I am searching for a special character.

Thank you

On <http://www.adobe.com/type> there is a link to an "OpenType Character Access Chart" in .pdf format. I think you will find the information you want there.

I just put a quick launch button to the character map. This seems easier than pulling out a chart everytime I have a question.

Forgive the use of boilerplate text:

Extended characters in Windows can be selected via the Character Map, which is similar to KeyCaps in Mac OS. If you can't find Character Map somewhere in the Start menu, you can type in 'charmap' at Start menu | Run.

You can copy and paste from CharMap into your application, but many special characters can be entered by using a keyboard 'shortcut,' which consists of the Alt key plus a 4-digit ANSI code entered via the numeric keypad (the calculator-style keys at the right of the keyboard). Hold down the Alt key, enter the 4-digit code, then release the Alt key.

For example, with most fonts, the registered trademark symbol can be entered via Alt+0174.

You might find it helpful to make a small "crib" sheet with codes for the most commonly used special characters. You can also assign a keyboard shortcut to CharMap so that you can pop it up at any time.
