Default Visible clipping mask when exporting?

Hello, I have serached and cannot find an answer for this problem. It is most likley very easy...

So, I have a large background image which I have cropped by using a clipping mask. The cropped edges are not shown on the canvas. However, when I export to .jpg or save for web, the canvas size adjusts to the cliiping mask size, making lots of blank white space.

I have read the help section and cannot find how to export the canvas size only. If I save it as a PDF it exports only the canvas size when opened in Acrobat. But when I save from Acrobat to .jpg (the only way I can seem to get a canavas without the white of the mask) it looses quality.

HELP!

Brooke:

Draw a rectangle exactly the size of what you wish to save, then go to Object>Crop Area>Make. You'll still have some white space, though, or whatever the matte color you set, because jpeg doesn't support transparency.

Brooke:

If you want to just crop your JPG or Save For Web output to the artboard size you have set, just do what Bert said without making the rectangle. steve
