Default Bad runarounds

I'm not happy with the way text wraps work with InDesign. For instance I have a two column page of text, and want to put a circle photo in the middle of the two columns, so text in both columns wraps around it. Easy to do, but if you look at the runaround that ID creates, it isn't at all even. The object is a perfect circle, but the text wrap is more like an egg. The text is farther away at the bottom than it is on the sides. You can sort of fix it by manually adjusting the wrap, but you can never get it quite even, and there is really no reason you should have to. Why can't ID make a symetrical text wrap?

Has this been discussed before?

Sorry, I keep using JavaScript notation for URLs. I've fixed them.
