I'm designing a questionnaire in ID CS3 and want to email a pdf copy to the recipients. Is there a way to create fields and check boxes the recipients can edit in the pdf and then email back to me? Thanks.

Yes, but you'll need to use Acrobat Pro to add the form fields and they will need to use the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Actually I'm not 100% certain about that last bit. I've made forms for people to fill out for printing, but never for sharing the data entered.

Scott, Thank you. So, create my doc in ID, then export as pdf, and open in Acrobat Pro and insert fields, save again? Sorry to need such literal instruction.

And don't forget to Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader (found under the Advanced menu) when you do your editing in Acrobat. This will make it possible for the end user to fill in the form.

That's done automatically, IIRC, when you distribute the form.

Well, I was going to check on that, but I can't access the Help files in Acrobat. When, oh when, is Adobe going give us poor Mac users some parity with this program? Seems like they only pay attention to the PC side of it.

Anyway, I remember reading somewhere you had to go into the Advanced menu and enable this thing-- obviously it was not the help files. But I could be wrong... have been before.

Eric is right. You must Enable User Rights in Acrobat Pro 8 for Reader users to be able to save and send copies of the filled out form. It's also limited to 500 returns as per the EULA.
