Default pdf export adds colored border around page

I'm trying to create a pdf do***ent with InDesign, but when I export and open it in Acrobat there is a colored border around every page. If I go the Acrobat prefs and unclick "Show art, trim and bleed boxes" the border disappears.

However, I would prefer it to never be there so people I send the file to don't see it. I've opened lots of other pdfs and they don't have this problem.

I've tried every option I can think of in the Export options, and none of the "Marks and Bleeds" are selected. Does anybody know what I can do to get rid of these borders?

I also tried creating the do***ent using Photoshop Automate>PDF Presentation and the same thing happens, but I want to use InDesign.

Thanks,

Andrew

Isn't it just an on-screen visual? If your clients don't have "Show art, trim and bleed boxes" checked, they shouldn't see it.

One could set the bleed- and trimbox’ values to zero in Acrobat (Crop Pages, command-shift-T) so they would be at the outer edge of the do***ent, but I would strongly advise against it.
The trim- and bleedbox offer relevant information for print-processing and should be available to those who wish/have to peruse it.
But if the pdfs should be only for presentation-purposes one could just as well export them without bleed and crop-marks, couldn’t one?

That is indeed a user preference in Acrobat and it's off by default.
Turn it off and you won't see it. It's not available, AFAIK, in Reader
and I would have to think that anyone that's enabled it, as I have,
would have done so because they wanted it.

In short, stop worrying.

"But if the pdfs should be only for presentation-purposes one could just as well export them without bleed and crop-marks, couldn’t one?"

Thanks for all the replies. As I mentioned in my original post, I am not exporting with any bleeds or crop-marks and none of the InDesign export options under "Marks and Bleeds" have been selected.

"That is indeed a user preference in Acrobat and it's off by default.

I had never heard of this preference until now and I would never have turned it on myself. So in my case it seems to have been turned on by default, or by accident. Like I said, I have opened several other pdfs and none of them had this colored border around the page, so that's why I was surprised to see it on the do***ent I was exporting.

I wouldn't want other users to see it either, and I wouldn't want to have to provide an explanation about advanced Acrobat preferences in case they saw them like I did. So I was just hoping there would be someway to avoid the issue all together.

Thanks anyway,

Andrew

Maybe there is a way to save that particular Acrobat preference into a PDF when the PDF is created by exporting from InDesign, but I don't know how to do it.
