Default What languages supports Indesign CS2?

I have read somewhere that Indesign CS2 ships by default with a whole number of languages. Now after installing, I find out there are no more than there were already in CS. How can you get to additional languages? I am struggling now with Arabic and do not get it to understand that it is right to left. And for a Russian hyphenation dictionary I am waiting for a long time. Who can help me with the answers?

Make sure you're fully updated. There was an Eastern European update as
well as 4.0.1 update.

For right to left languages you'll need to buy the Middle Eastern
version of InDesign CS. Check out http://www.winsoft.fr.

Well, I had the impression that this region thing was done away with at the CS2 version. I really need one version that covers the whole world. Is such a thing available?

They eliminated the CE (Central European) version. But InDesign doesn't support the needs of right-to-left languages (the ME--Middle Eastern) version and Asian languages (Vertical orientation script). You still need separate versions for those.

That's included in ID CS2.

Thanks for all of your feedback. Yes, I downloaded the 4.0.1 upgrade and I am seeing for the first time the Russian language listed. What an advantage!!!

For the other languages it seems it is getting complicated. Does that mean I need to buy two more versions??? What is that going to cost? Can you install them simultaneous on the same machine? And I will need to fiddle around with starting the right version for each project? In an international world of today I find this kind of policy very much backwards. Corel Draw is supporting these languages already for a long time, and I guess I will need to revert some of my projects to Corel Draw. If I find no feasible solution for Indesign, that is probably going to work better for me. If somebody has some further comments on that, I would be interested to hear.

I found the solution to my problem. I am switching certain projects to Openoffice Draw. It is of course not that advanced like Indesign, but it has at least a pretty good and flexible text engine. And it gives me true international support. On top of that it is for free. You cannot beat that.

We found out that the hyphenation in the Dutch language of CS2 is very poor. For example:

InCopy / InDesign v2 : be-drijven (OK)
InCopy / InDesign CS2 : bed-rijven (VERY WRONG)

Is there a way to export/import hyphenation lists from older versions or are there working hyphenationlists downloadable somewhere?
