Default Pallets move on their own

This has been an issue for a long time, I'm just now getting around to posting about it. Rather than try and explain it all, I made a video screenshot (sorry for the demo stamp on it.)

Basically, when I try to switch between tabbed pallets, most of the pallets shift down causing the ones at the bottom to be tiny and the ones at the top to get really long. It does this on both of my machines, PPC & Intel. One is running 10.5.4, the other 10.5.5.

How do I get the pallets to stop moving themselves?

It's not just CS3 either. When I re-reported it, it came back as a duplicate bug whose status is deferred. I hope they fix it soon (ie ID 6.01)!

Probably wouldn't hurt to file a bug report of your own too, complete with link to video. The more people filing the bug, the higher the priority it will receive, I suspect.

Thanks. Please forgive my ignorance... how do I file a bug? I'm not fully up on how the Adobe bug reporting process works.

I really hope I don't have to buy an upgrade just to fix this bug.

My solution is to find yourself a small unused monitor (display) and connect it to your computer so that you have two monitors. We call the secondary screen a "slave monitor". Then I drag all my pallets (un-tabbed) over to this secondary screen.

This way I can show all my pallets at once without having to waste time opening and closing them every time I need to see information on something. This also frees up the main display for the actual viewing of your file. This frees up the clutter and is more productive.

It's kind of buried in Adobe's menu system, but it's under the Company->Contact Adobe->Feedback.

Here's the link--it can be used for both bugs and wishlist items.

@Russell - thanks for the idea. I have a 24" LCD for my main and a 22" CRT for my second monitor. I usually use it for my buddylist, email and for documents related to what I'm working on (eg, content revisions and such.)

I like having my pallets and dock on the right. I could get another video card and another monitor but I'm happy with the way things work, other than this bug.

@Eric - thanks.
