Default Baked Spaghetti and Meatballs

Baked Spaghetti and Meatballs

Serves: 6
1 pound spaghetti cooked according to directions on package. Meat balls
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
1 large egg
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 Tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil for browning meatballs Combine
all ingredients except oils in a large bowl and mix until all
ingredients are well incorporated.
Make meat balls by using a tablespoon and rolling meat mixture until
formed into a ball.
Place in a large skillet with the oil and brown over medium heat. Remove
from skillet and add to pan:
1 diced onion
1 diced bell pepper
1 minced clove of garlic and saute until just softened, add: 1 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon salt & pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 bay leaf
1 16 oz. can of stewed tomatoes, (Italian style) 1 cup of tomato juice 1
4 or 6 oz. can of tomato paste and rinse can, add the water you rinsed
the can with.
Stir well and cover and let simmer for 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf.
Place spaghetti in a greased 3 quart casserole dish and place meatballs
on top, cover entire dish with sauce and sprinkle with parmesan cheese,
cover with lid or foil and bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 Serve
with a crusty bread, or garlic bread and a crisp salad.
