Isn't it supposed to be the other way round or is the tail wagging the
dog?

I've met a quite a lot of CAMRA types who seem to think the pubs exist
to support their rampant egos.

Oh, I say! I may have to go into Cardiff one day this week, to make
sure the place is still there or something <g>

I'll be behind the bar tomorrow and Friday (except when I'm involved
with the knockout stages of judging the champion beer of Wales)

Mmm. I might be able to come into town on Friday. I'll see what I can
do.

A very good selection, and quite a few dark ales TAAW. The RCH Old Slug
porter is rather tasty in bottle; I've not so far seen it on draught.

Sounds like a good cyna to me.

I wish there were the occasional real beer festival in this neck of the
woods which was get-attable without a car. Some beer zbarl would be
hfrshy TAAW.

And verily I did descend on Cardiff, and did call in to say hello to Mr
Red. I did not, however, pay the required £3 to pass through the
festive portal, preferring instead to investigate the Christmas craft
fair, whereat there were samples of wines, spirits, cheeses, liqueurs;
there was a hog roast for those who like such things; sweet and savoury
pancakes, all manner of vqt... and NO GLUHWEIN SELLER! Waaahhh! Where
is the Gluhwein seller this year? I am sad. I'd been looking forward
to my annual polystyrene cup of Gluhwein.

Default Champion Beer of Wales 2007 (was Re: Beer Report)

Thanks for visiting, sorry I wasn't in a position to waive the entrance
price, and didn't mention it earlier. However lots of Very Nice Beer
was/is available at around £2.20 a pint and the entrance fee does/did
include the souvenier engraved glass + Programme.

Champion Beer of the Festival was/is Rhymney Dark. It seems (I couldn't
quite hear properly) all the other categories were won by either
Bryncelyn or Otley.

Not a promble, I'd have only ended up having more alcohol than I usually
drink before attempting to shoot arrows in the evening (British Barebow
Championships tomorrow) which would have been a very bad idea.

As it was, I got to taste some very nice wines and spirits in the
Christmas market, and with all the delectable cheeses that were on offer
to sample I actually did very well. Lunch, as they say, was Sorted.

Bother, wish I'd realised that. Never mind, if it's an annual event
I'll make a day of it next year.

And was it a worthy winner? Other stuff I've had from them has been
quite palatable, so I see no reason why it shouldn't be...

Was Jacobi there, or was it only the bigger breweries?
