Went to Daniella's Cantina In Framingham last night.

Location is very good, right at the rt126 and rt30 intersection.

The interior is VERY nice. My wife being from Mexico told me how it
reminder her of the eaterys on the coast of Mexico.

Prices are reasonable. The food however is NOT.

We were seated at a table in the middle of the room that was less
than comfortable for a couple, considering there were numerous booths
available.

We were asked if we wanted chips and salsa which typically in a
Mexican reatery are complimentary, so we said ok. When the bill came
we found out they were $2. Little slight of hand there if you ask me..
But ok.

The food was bad, I mean not good at all. We eat at alot of Spanish
eaterys, and this was the worst ever!

I had the beef chimichanga covered with chile. A chimichanga is
basicly a burrito that is deep fried rather that served plain. This
was a plain tortilla ( a tasteless one at that) served with a tastless
chile and covered in cold cheese. I was starving and didn't finish.

My wife had one of her favorites, carne asada steak. which is a steak
marinated in lime and spices served chopped. Again, no flavor..

Seems like they have it all together, just need a chef who has a
taste for Mexican flavor... This was bad, and I am not quick to give
a bad review of anyone, but this food was horrible. Even the people
in the booth next to us commented the same.

Service was great and the place has a wonderful Mexican feeling, but
the food was just terrible.

Avoid this one..

The original Daniella's Cantina is in Acton. It's pretty much the only
Mexican (or TexMex) restaurant in the area except for maybe Sierra's in
nearby Sudbury. The food at both are rather mediocre. I really wish
Boca Grande, Anna's Taqueria or Felipe's Taqueria would open a location
in Rt. 2W area. They would quickly eliminate the competition and make
some good money. Nashua has some Mexican restaurants like "La Caretta"
that I know some people like. I went once. It's okay but nothing to
write home about.

I tried Anna's Taqueria in MIT's Student Center. I had three El Pastor
taco, which were small soft taco's with grilled pork. They were very tasty,
but I could have ate a few more. For $1.25 each, not a bad deal.

MIT is so lucky. You used to have "Toscannini's" in that location even
though the main location is nearby and now you have "Anna's Taqueria"...

I'll have to try and get over there more often. They had numerous items
that looked very good. We got there before noon, and by 12:30pm there was
a huge line.

I think the winning formula that Anna's/Boca/Felipe has is that they
serve "fresh" food fast as opposed to fast food. e.g. places like Taco
Bell or recently Baja Fresh. Several years ago before Wendy's bought
them out, Baja Fresh was an awesome restaurant - at least the ones in
CA. I've been to the one in Stoneham a few times and it's just not the
same.

BTW - For truly great Mexican, there's no better place than "Tu y yo" in
Somerville.

Mediocre is an understatement! I have a hard time giving resturants,
any place at all, but this was the exception.... Acapulco's also, is
one of the better places.

I just can't believe that enough people ate at the original Daniela's
that they actually opened a second location in Framingham...

Again, I hate to kick a resturant, but this place was borderline
gross, bland and tasteless....

Also, as I reported, I like the way they slip the normally
complimentary chips and salsa on the bill for $2. Chips and Salsa in a
Mexican resturant is like complimentary bread, or tea in other
places... I just thought it was a little sneaky. I know it was only
$2, but it just doesn't make sense. Unless of course, you realize a
few days later that they have coupons in the paper for $8 off of a
meal. Have to make up the $8 somewhere I guess...

In framingham the best mexican is at AZTEC on rt 135 at the
framingham/natick line. It's on the south side of 135
and is in a little L shaped building. The building is a little hole in the
wall but the food is great. It's real mexican also

And if you want to go a bit farther west in Downtown marlboro is Mi Rancha
(sp) that is on the West side of main street (what was rt 20 before they
built the outer loop road). it's in a storefont just about across the street
from the town hall. Again real mexican food.

for tex-mex there is alcapulco's on rt 9 east bound just before the
mass-pike.

Also there is a southwestern place on rt 9 west in westboro just past
Harry's diner (it's in what used to be harry's 2).
