I recently drove past the small shopping strip on Comm Ave in Newton
where Handler Brothers (a kosher butcher) and Provizer's Deli (a treif
but traditional deli) were, and saw that they are both out of business.
The only information on the web about this is
http://www.kosherblog.net/2005/12/05/boston_kosher_scene_update/ ,
which says they closed in November, and that Gordon and Alperin (the
kosher prepared foods store across the street) is looking to open a
kosher pizza place there.

Anyone know the story?

I wish the pizza place well, but it doesn't seem like the best location
for one. It's not exactly a high-traffic location, and while people
will drive some distance to go to a butcher (especially when there are
few alternatives elsewhere), a pizza place is quite different.
