Default Putting it by again

Well, there's another good Texan gone bad. Last time I chopped ice was
when the ship's captain called all hands on deck to chip ice during a
North Atlantic cruise. I got so cold I started drinking coffee (age 20)
and still do just in the memory of that day.

I take 40 mg of simvastin (Zocor) and about that much Plavix and then
there's the other 9 scripts a day I take for HBP and diabetes. If it
weren't for pharmacy fees I would be wealthy and that's the VA pharmacy,
at 7 bux for a 30 day script it mounts up when you're taking 10 or 12
scripts a day. Been taking the Zocor for so long my total chloesterol is
about 130 and my triglicerides are even less. My problem is well known
to my doctors, they just can't figure out which blocked artery/vein is
giving up the plaque. So far the micro strokes are hitting the left side
of the brain, the cognitive part, and mostly are hitting my speech
centers. That's hell for a man who makes his living speaking to groups.
Luckily my clients all understand and keep an eye on me.

One more candle can't hurt. My Tex-Mex friends in South Texas have about
set their houses and churches on fire lighting them. My Cajun friends
around here have all added me to their prayer lists and are burning
candles too. My daughter, her new husband, and the eldest granddaughter
called last night and they've done the same. Ethnic Catholics, like me,
still light candles. Prayers are always welcome too. Thank you my friends.

First thing they did on me was carotid imaging as I had the right
carotid stripped by the VA Hospital in Houston about 2 years ago. In
October the tech who does the imaging, a lady I trust a lot, told me the
right was still clean and the left had not progressed beyond the 42%
that was there 18 months before. Since she does about 50 a day and has
been doing them for a very long time I trust her more than the docs. My
father, grandfather, greatgrandfather and all of my Dad's brothers had
the same problem.

The sciatic nerve is getting better with the chiropractors help. I try
to avoid surgery whenever possible as I had a disk removed thirty years
ago. Thanks for the prayers and the advice Deb. I went through the same
thing with my Dad.

How about a big Zen hug? from Anne McCaffrey's _The Ship Who Searched_ :
- the hugs that you would get, if we were there, if we could hug you, but we
aren't, and we can't" -

Damn! Don't tell me you're a science fiction fan Edrena. I would have to
divorce my wife and go to West Texas, which I detest, just to find you.
That's about all I read anymore, and my major reading list since age 8
has been SF. Our local library system even had me appointed to the
"Friends of the Library" just so I could recommend SF for their shelves.
I knew there was another reason I liked you. <BSEG>

Sistah Ann would never f****ve me. And Ol'Whiskerface just bought a Harley and I
got the tee-shirt to prove it. Some other incarnation, okay? Didja ever read all
the Callahans Bar Series by Spider Robinson? Lotsa aliens, puns, & s*x. On
second thought, that might not be the thing to get excited over just now.... And I
_don't_ believe reading Harry Potter will tempt our little ones to the Dark Side
(Evil, not chocolate).

Yup, I've read everything he's every written, some of it twice or
thrice. My current favorites include John Ringo and other writers of
combat SF. Lots of good stuff out there, picked up two more at the
library today. Believe it or not Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana has a
superb library system, nearly all new buildings, tons and tons of books,
nice meeting rooms that are free to non-profits, etc.

My eldest granddaughter owns all the Harry Potter books and "Little
Grampy" gets first shot at them when she finishes one. That's my 6 foot,
218 lb, granddaughters nickname for her 5'7" grandpa. I'm certainly glad
she loves me cause she could put some hurt on someone.

It ain't the file, it's all the gumbo and rice she sprinkled it over.
Plus the girl loves bacon, can eat a couple pounds at a sitting. She's
in love at the moment so that may be the impetus to eating better. Wimmin!

Yesterday DW and I put up several packages of broccoli again plus we
dehydrated seven trays of parsley for later use. In addition we
harvested a large head of cabbage, made half of it into slaw and the
other half was stir fried for dinner along with some leftover steak,
swiss chard, broccoli, carrots, and sugar peas fresh from from the vine.
Today we will harvest the last of the broccoli side shoots to blanch and
freeze.

The best news from yesterday was that the damage that Rita did to our
home was repaired completely. The workers left about 1:30 pm with the
sheetrocking and painting done. We had to repair eight ceiling joists on
the south side of the house. They were either cracked, split, or
completely broken in half, no wonder the ceiling sagged in the living
room. It feels really good to have our home back to normal again, new
roof, lots of new sheetrock on the ceilings and a fresh coat of paint in
the one room and hallway that were damaged by Rita.
