Default Trash compactor choices

In our kitchen remodel, we have planned to install a trash compactor.
All other appliances are stainless, and I am about to purchase a GE
Monogram stainless steel 15-inch compactor.

Does anyone have experience with this model, or others?

Any reason NOT to install a trash compactor? My husband is skeptical,
thinks it is unnecesssary, but our contractor says that for our
high-end remodel in a resort community, it is best to include this
appliance.

Thanks for any advice,

Claudia

Nothing wrong with a trash compactor of you don't mind paying for
expensive bags and lifting VERY heavy sacks of trash. The house we
bought had one and we ripped it out for a storage cabinet within 2
months.

Claudia...we had one. The bags are expensive and by the time you get
them filled, they are very heavy.

Many people are ripping those things out with their remodels and
installing a wine cooler in their place.

Check it out. A high end resort community might be more interested
in this option.
