blackberry fungus

I bought a bunch of blackberries a few days ago. Now some of them have
fungus on them (white, furry).

How do I prevent them in the future, and can I wash off the fungus and eat
the berries without ill effect?

Prevention: Wash, cook, freeze or steep in alcohol.

Gone furry? Dump them. Probably wouldn't hurt you too much, but you
wouldn't want to be fighting with your guests in the line for the
bathroom, now would you?
