Hi! Everyone,
A few years ago I lived in the Jewish community in Toronto,,,and
Saturday's,,I would take my son to a Jewish deli that sold this
dessert......It was heavenly,,,,,,,I'm probably saying it wrong,,,,,but I
would love a recipe if anyone has one.

Can you describe what it looked like? Tasted like? What flavors it
came in?

It could be kugel, which isn't usually a dessert, or it could be
rugelach (and there are a dozen ways to spell this).

Kugel is a sort of baked pudding dish, I make one with noodles and one
with grated potatoes.

Rugelach are little tiny pastries filled with any one of a number of
fruit or chocolate fillings, and rolled kind of like a crescent roll.
The dough is usually cream cheese based.

You will find literally hundreds of recipes for both these dishes, it
might be hard to find one just like what you remember from the deli.

Is there any kind of Jewish deli or bakery where you live now? You
might be able to find a variation there.

Are you maybe thinking of "rugelach"? Google on that spelling.

Here's a recipe for a Sweet Kugel. I think that's what you found in the Deli.

NOODLE KUGEL for 12

one 12 oz. bag wide noodles, cooked and drained
one 16 oz. container sour cream
one 16 oz. container cottage cheese
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup raisins
6 eggs, beaten
grated peel of 1 lemon
1/3 cup sugar

Place noodles in large bowl. Add other ingredients and mix well. You
may wish to adjust the quatity of sugar, according to your own taste.
Place in 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap and
refrigerate overnight.

TOPPING

2 cups bread crumbs
1/4 cup unsalted butter
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

About 1.1/2 hours before serving, brown bread crumbs in frying pan with
butter for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add sugar and
cinnamon to bread crumbs. Sprinkle topping venly over top of kugel.
Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Remove from oven, let stand 15 minutes before serving.

Since the OP said, "it was heavenly" I expect she's not talking about
the rugelach cookies/pastries. I would say "I had these little
pastries and they were heavenly." Kugel sounds like what she had.

It can be savory OR sweet, and is OFTEN a dessert--with raisins and cinnamon in it.
