Basashi is readily available at izakaya in Tokyo.

And, I agree that it is really tasty.

Lets hear some unconventional ones you've had. I've had only a few, had
turtle, peacock, raw cow brain(would that be sashimi??), and some that my
mom won't tell me.

Ox Tail, Alligator, Caribou, Rattlesnake, Grasshoppers, and Moose.
What was peacock like? And cow brains? straight up? or fried with
onions?

Nothing unconventional about Ox-tail. Only had turtle in soup. Had
pheasant, but not peacock. Never had raw cow brains, but had 'em (calves,
actually) breaded (sesos empanadas) and in fritters (frituras de seso).
Haven't tried alligator, rattlesnake, caribou or moose, but sure love
venison, blood rare (and its liver, kill warm, sashimi).

I never had Ox-tail as a kid.. Oh, I've had duck tongues. That's kind of
weird.

I've had oxtail in both stews and soups. I like it a lot.

I've also had duck's tongues, duck's blood, duck's feet, chicken
feet, pig feet, pig's tails, pig's ears, pig's stomach and
probably lots of other things most Americans would consider
weird, but I can't think of anything else on the spur of the
moment.

Nothing like getting your memory kick-started. Yes, I've had duck's feet,
chicken feet, pork blood, tripe, chitterlings, deer liver, shark liver and
Haggis, which consists of a sheep stomach, containing sheep lungs, heart,
liver and kidney suet.
