TN: Nice basic Bourgogne
Last night Betsy made a special request meal for me, chicken schnitzel
with an herb salad, while I grilled a few ears of corn (still too
early for local). Wine was the 2007 Paul Pernot Bourgogne Blanc. A
perennial favorite and this year's version is doing quite well. Pear
and citrus fruit, a faint hint of vanillin oak (though I'd be
surprised if any new here), good concentration and length, brisk but
not harsh acidity. With time some earth and chalky mineral notes. Very
good for level. My last of three, I should have gotten case when at
good price locally. B+
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent
wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't
drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no
promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
