Default Wine storage suggestion needed

Hello,

My wife and I just moved into a new home where we actually have room for a
small wine storage unit. I currently have about 45 bottles of assorted
wines that I store at room temperature. My wife is french, so every year we
go to Paris and Bourgogne for a couple weeks and I usually drag back as many
bottles as she will let me stuff into our luggage and carry ons. I would
guess then that I increase the hoard by about 10 bottles per year of wines
that really need time to rest.

I am looking for a storage unit for in home use, that has a capacity for
60-120 bottles, looks nice, and is reasonably priced.

I googled for these, but there are several to choose from and I dont know
which are good/reputable brands.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences they would like to share?

Let me know if there are any questions...

Bryan

In article <Nx8Yd.17071$Pz7.5861@newssvr13.news.prodigy.com>, a@b.c says...

While I have a custom-built cellar, several friends have Eurocave and
Vinotheque units. Both are attractive furniture-level units, and none has had
any problem, whatsoever.

You also seem to have gotten a good rec from "Administrator" and there may be
additional info available there, plus other recommendations.

One caveat that I would offer is to UP-size your storage unit. As soon as you
have it, you WILL collect more bottles, than you do now. I'm not sure who has
a postulate, or razor, or whatever, for it, but your purchases will fill
whatever volume you have available in far less time, than you can possibly
imagine. When I did a 3700 btl cellar, I thought I had my wine storage needs
filled for the next century. Right now, I have boxes stacked on the floor and
cannot even reach my Zins, unless I move some of the boxes. In the last two
months, I've turned down some great prices on Kistler, and Turley, just
because I'm FULL! Buy much larger than you think you need. Also, think about
units that look good next to each other. One hundred and twenty btls today,
but 360 the day after you get your first storage unit.

My suggestion,
why waste your time lugging French wines which are akin to piss water back
home, storing them, and waiting for them to become remotely drinkable, when
you can go to Publix and get tons of great Californias for immediate
consumption??.

Hate to feed the trolls but...

I happen to like french wine because it is -not- the same as california
wines (of which there are many very good ones!), and I have to go to france
(as I mentioned) once a year to visit the inlaws anyways. Why not take
advantage of it?
