I'm a student researching cultural differences. Simple to complex,
harmless to hatefull, all will be much appreciated. So far I've found
phrases with double meanings, food preferences, and philisophical
imbalances just to name a few. Please help me, don't hate me because
I'm a yankee.

The biggest differance between the US/Aus is 'Tall Poppy Syndrome'
(nonexistant in the US). Google it, you'll find it interesting.

In relation to Tall Poppy... the only difference is that we have a name for
it. It exists through out the world. Identifying it and acknowleging its
presence is half the battle to overcoming it.

Larikin is a joker, someone who's purpose in life is a laugh! Generally they
are considered to be a bit simple.

I have never been to the States, but generally we indentify Americans as
being quite loud and out there, whilst Australians are quite lazy. A nation
of dole (government fund for the unemployed) blugers who prefer to surf
rather than do a days honest work. Have a look at the number of public
holidays that we have in comparison to the States? I dont know if it is
true, but this might be a starting point for you. In Melbourne we even have
a day off for a horse race!
