The Real Saddam??????
Here in Australia people get paid for the job they're doing
so the Indians don't get any unfair advantages (for the most
part) by being willing to take a lower wage. India is a
country that produces good IT professionals, but that's more
in volume than quality, we have plenty homebred that are
just as good, and our wage system protects us from being
flooded by people taking a wage and sending it overseas, as
does our immigration policy that knocks back skillsets that
are currently glutted (like IT). The sinister shadow that is
looming over us however is outsourcing. You can pay Indian's
at home to do a good job for peanuts, and many companies are
going down that track. And like you I wonder what these
companies are going to end up doing to the home sector by
outsourcing to sweatshop zones for development work.
Suddenly no-one at home will be skilled (what will be the
point in learning these skills if all the work goes OS?) and
we'll have a liability and a dependancy. Spose you've got to
give it to them, they're taking advantage of the market like
anyone else would.
