Indonesian Troops Deploying in Lebanon

Yakarta, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) Indonesia sent a third group of troops to
Lebanon UN Acting Force (UNIFIL) from Soekarno Hatta air base.

A contingent made up of 235 soldiers under the command of Colonel
Surawahadi was also sent to the same place Wednesday and another one will
fly to Lebanon on Saturday.

Indonesia was elected non permanent member of the UN Security Council
starting January 2007 and committed to deploying 850 soldiers in the South
of Lebanon as part of UNIFIL.

The first group of 125 soldiers set off on Nov 5, and joined the Spanish
troops near the Israel border, reported military sources.

The Minister of Defense Juwono Sudarsono recently said most of the
Indonesian group will be deployed in a strip of neutral land between the
Arab country and Israel called "Blue Track."
