:> Enough already!
:> My office phones went out last Friday morning and they're still not
:> working.
:
:Mine went down last Wednesday. When I called Verizon--IN MINNEAPOLIS--
:all they could say was "we'll have someone out next Monday." Lord, it
:must be glorious to run a monopoly!
Hmmm...5 days seems to be the stock answer. When I reported trouble
last Friday I was told my phones would be fixed by the following
Wednesday (yesterday!) afternoon! And, they were...not one day sooner!
Verizon determined on Friday that the problems were not mine. But, lo
and behold, while at a breakfast meeting yesterday I received a phone
call from them wondering if I was in my office! They needed to get in.
Yah! Right! Anyway, they finally determined that my phone problems
were...now get this...caused by an Oceanic cable mishap!!!
:While we were having this lively conversation--on my fax line--three

ther conversations were on top of us, so it's clear both of my lines
:are messed up but they wanted to tell me the problems was "inside
:wires." You betcha. Both lines suddenly screwed, but it's my fault.
I always wonder why, when I have phone problems, the phone company asks
me to FIRST check all my phones...disconnect everything, change jacks,
try different equipment in different jacks, yada, yada, yada. It's
extremely time consuming esp. when heavy furniture has to be moved to
access all of the jacks. It takes them less then 30 seconds to test the
line from their end and determine where the problem is. I'm more than
willing to check my equipment AFTER they do that quick test.
:And how is it that a bit of heavy rain throws the entire phone system
:into such turmoil? Like, they never thought it would rain? God help us
:in a real disaster.
One of the tv stations had a mainland Verizon rep on the news the other
day. It appears the fault lies with our...ROADS! Those darn cracks!!!
Seems the rain water seeps in to those cracks and...TA DA...phone
problems! Something about copper and water mixing about as well as oil
and water. Good grief...aren't those wires protected underground? Guess
I shouldn't call Verizon with my next problem. Possibly Oceanic or the
DOT are better choices?!
:> The last time I saw waterfalls hitting the Pali Hwy. was New Years
:> Day...oh, what year was it...1989? The great storm of New Years eve!
:> What an adventure!
:>
:

ecember 1987. Rained 40 days and 40 nights until the big landslides on
:New Year's Eve. It was an adventure alright!
Ah yes...87/88! That's it!
